COLLEGE OF MARINE TECHNOLOGY
The preamble stone of the College of Marine Technology was laid in 1996 with the noble intention to impart superior quality training and thus groom fine young blood generation.
College of Marine Technology established in the year 1996, is a premier institute dedicated to create talents and competences to cater marine and shipping industry. Started with just six students and one teacher, today this institution has grown beyond boundaries and mould thousands of students each year. College of Marine Technology is situated in Kochi, the industrial capital of Kerala. Kochi has its own port, shipping industry and marine area matching with the objectives of the institute. History The College of Marine Technology was founded by Dr. G. Mohankumar. After his secondary education, he has joined Indian Navy and served several years. During his tenure with the Navy he has sailed to different countries and learned about the vast scope of marine technology. His intense desire to share his expertise and knowledge with the generations to come has resulted in establishing this institute. The college was dedicated to groom young people for the service of shipping industry. In order to strengthen his teaching credentials, he has acquired PhD in Educational Psychology. He was awarded Knight Hood for his philanthropic contribution to the country. Courses & Career The college offers two years, one year, six months and three months courses in Marine Mechanical Fitter and Welding. This is the only institute offering such course to the general public. The course has both theory and practical learning as part of the curriculum. The college has a well-equipped lab to provide practical training to students. The college aims at the holistic development of the students. Personality development programs, social awareness camps, blood donation camps etc. are regularly conducted in the institute. The institute also nourishes the sportsman spirit and creative talents by organizing annual day and annual sports day. Students passed out from previous batches are successfully employed in dockyards, shipyards and related establishments. Career opportunities are also available in oil rigs and refineries. Needlness to say, the blessing and prayers of its successful ex-students are the biggest inspiration of this institute.
